BioSupplies Silkworm Care Sheet
Soft, nutritious, and a premium feeder your reptiles love
Meet Your Silkworms
Silkworms are one of the best feeders available:
✔ Soft-bodied (easy to digest)
✔ High in moisture
✔ Loved by fussy eaters
They just need a little more attention than other feeders
Step 1: Set Them Up
When they arrive:
Keep them in a well-ventilated container
Line the base with paper towel or mesh
Keep them clean and dry
Clean setup = healthy worms
Step 2: Keep Them Warm
Silkworms like it slightly warm:
Ideal temp: 22–26°C
Too cold = slow growth
Too hot = stress and die-off
Stable temperature is key
Step 3: Feed Them Properly (VERY Important)
Silkworms have a specific diet
Feed:
- Fresh mulberry leaves
Do NOT feed:
- Carrot, greens, or other veggies
They only eat mulberry-based food
Step 4: Keep Them Dry
This is critical:
Avoid excess moisture
No water bowls
Don’t let food go soggy
Too much moisture = fast die-off
Step 5: Keep It Clean (Very Important)
- Remove waste (frass) regularly
- Replace food before it spoils
- Keep their environment fresh
Silkworms are clean… until things get messy
Step 6: Watch for Growth & Changes
Silkworms grow quickly:
Small → Large → Cocoon
If they stop eating and lift their heads, they may be ready to cocoon
Still safe to feed at most stages, though not the cocoons
Feeding Time Tips
- Perfect for reptiles needing hydration
- Great for picky eaters
- No need to dust heavily (already nutritious)
Bonus:
They don’t bite, jump, or escape — very easy to handle
Want Them to Last Longer?
