Welcome to the world of Dubia Roaches!
Good news — you’ve picked one of the easiest live feeders to keep alive
With just a few simple steps, your roaches will stay healthy, active, and ready to feed.
Step 1: Set Them Up
As soon as they arrive:
✅ Place them in a smooth-sided, ventilated container
✅ Add egg cartons (they love to climb and hide)
✅ Keep them in a dark, quiet spot
Dubias prefer the dark — think “under the couch”, not “sunbaking on the deck”
Step 2: Feed Them Right (Gut Loading)
Healthy roaches = better nutrition for your reptiles
Feed them:
- Carrot
- Leafy greens
- Fruit (in small amounts)
- Bug Boost - Dry insect feed (best option)
Tip: Remove old food before it goes soft or mouldy
Step 3: Hydration
Dubias need moisture, but keep it controlled:
✅ Use:
- Hydration gels (InsectaSip)
❌ Avoid:
- Open water bowls (they can drown or create humidity issues)
Step 4: Keep Them Warm (This is KEY)
Dubia roaches LOVE warmth:
Ideal temp: 26–32°C
Too cold = they slow down or stop moving
Warm = active, growing, breeding
If they’re sluggish… they’re probably cold
⚠️ Step 5: Avoid These Common Mistakes
Too cold (biggest killer)
Too much moisture / humidity
Overcrowding
Poor ventilation

Step 6: Keep It Clean
- Remove old food regularly
- Clear out waste build-up over time
- Keep enclosure dry
Dubias are naturally low smell — unless things get damp
Feeding Time Tips
- Feed appropriate size for your reptile
- Dust with calcium if needed
- Use feeding tongs or a feeding dish
Bonus:
Dubias don’t jump or climb smooth surfaces — much easier to handle than crickets
