Musca domestica species
LIVE PUPAE CARE:
The pupae can be kept in your fridge for about 2 weeks before they turn into flies. If you wish to feed them off as flies leave them at room temperature for 4-5 days.
You can also freeze them and feed them off as pupae. They can be stored in the freezer for up to 6 months. They won't hatch into flies if they have been frozen.
WHO LOVES OUR FLY PUPAE?
Fly pupae are a great food for lizards and are a favourite of Bearded Dragons, frogs, turtles and amphibians, fish, birds including insectivores, finches and other softbills.
TRIED THOSE, WHAT ELSE HAVE YOU GOT?
If you want to vary the diet of your beloved critter you might want to try some Black Soldier Fly Larvae, crickets, superworms or silkworms. A little of this and a little of that keep your pet interested and offer different hunting opportunities to keep them stimulated.
